The Glenbrook Foundation’s 2nd annual Back-to-School party, held on Saturday, August 29th at Glenbrook South High School, proved to be another fun, family-friendly event for the communities of Glenview and Northbrook. Alumni, current students and administrators, families and friends all came together to enjoy a night of carnival games, sports in the gym, swimming in the pools, food trucks, and “The Incredibles” on the big screen. The event drew more than 500 people from the surrounding community who were able to enjoy first-hand all the wonderful facilities that Glenbrook South High School has to offer. The party is championed as a way to bring families together and introduce communities from both schools to the good work being done by the Glenbrook Foundation.
The Foundation would like to recognize all the efforts of Dr. James Shellard and his staff for making this event such a huge success. Students from Glenbrook South and Glenbrook North High Schools participated in the event, engaging kids with fun carnival games and prizes throughout the evening. Trustees of the Glenbrook Foundation were in attendance, as well as many friends of the Foundation who generously donated their time at the party. “The evening had a real positive, enthusiastic vibe,” said Beth Bassler, Glenbrook High School Foundation Chair. She credited much of the evening’s success to the more than 65 GBS and GBN peer mentors, who volunteered their time to work together “toward a common purpose to represent their high schools while welcoming future Spartans and Titans and their families to the event.”
